Certified Phlebotomist Continuing Education Requirements
Typically, a phlebotomy technician who is certified has to meet certain standards and requirements to
keep his or her certification status current. This is usually done by maintaining their professional membership
with their certification provider current and earning a certain amount of annual continuing education credits
(CEU). Once they let their certification lapse, they are no longer allowed to use the issued credentials, although
they will usually be allowed to continue to work in their role as a phlebotomist. It is up to each individual and
their goals, the employers and their expectations, and state law whether a phlebotomist must be certified, and
thus, must maintain their certification status active.
Earning Phlebotomist CEUs
Enrolling in a phlebotomy continuing education and training workshop or seminar will earn you much needed
continuing education credits to keep your skills sharp and your certifications current.
