Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Another closely related career to phlebotomy technician is that of the medical laboratory technician (MLT) who is a specially trained allied health professional who collects, preserves and cultures blood and other body specimens in a medical laboratory using special techniques. After a laboratory sample is collected it is processed and analyzed within the department of pathology and laboratory medicine, or a clinical chemistry, microbiology, or toxicology division of the lab.
